Russell Wilson‘s stint with the Denver Broncos hasn’t gone smoothly so far. After a disastrous 2022 season, Wilson and the Broncos lost five of their first six games this season. They hired former Super Bowl-winning head coach, Sean Payton to replace the outgoing Nathaniel Hackett in this year’s offseason. However, the team struggled in the early weeks of the season.

The Broncos though, fought back. After losing five out of their first six games, they won their next three, beating the likes of the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills. Wilson is almost back to his best and the defense has improved drastically. There was a lot of criticism surrounding Wilson’s poor performance last season. With an improved season this year, Broncos’ WR Courtland Sutton shared a post about asking the people to apologize to his QB. ESPN analyst, Stephen A. Smith was not entertaining that thought at any cost.

Smith said on his show, First Take:

I got mad respect for him [Sutton] but shut the hell up with that nonsense. Did you watch this team last year? Did you watch how Russell Wilson performed last year? If anything, Russell Wilson owes all of us an apology for putting forth the year that he put forth that put everything into question.

Last season, in 15 games, Wilson’s touchdown-to-interception ratio was a dismal 16 to 11.

Smith further continued by saying there was no need to apologize to Wilson. Smith said:

You embarrassed yourself. You embarrassed the city of Denver. You embarrassed the history of the Broncos organization. You brought it on yourself.

This season, Wilson has thrown 18 touchdowns and only four interceptions so far.

Wilson and the Broncos are 4-5 through ten weeks of the season. They have won their last three games and their star quarterback has thrown 6 touchdowns and zero interceptions in that span. Their next game is against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday and they will hope to continue this winning streak.

Russell Wilson talked about the Broncos victory over the Bills

The Denver Broncos took care of the Buffalo Bills last Sunday to win their third game in a row. They have now improved to 4-5 for the season and are improving every week. Their star QB Russell Wilson has had a tremendous season so far and he had another good game against the Bills. However, the QB knows that the season is far from over.

Wilson said:

We have to come back to work this week. We’re going against a team, the Vikings, at home, who’s been playing some really good football. We’re going to enjoy this win, though. We’re going to celebrate. We’re going to have some fun." He described the Broncos' win over the Bills as a "huge one.

The Broncos will host the Minnesota Vikings in their next game on Sunday. It will be another test for Wilson and company against a very good team. Considering the recent run of results, the Broncos will feel confident going into the game on Sunday.
