Steve Kerr is helping his friends secure jobs across different sports! The head coach for the Golden State Warriors played a pivotal role in getting Dan Quinn recruited to the head coaching role of the Washington Commanders. Kerr’s influence extends to NFL circles as well. Apparently, he recommended Quinn to the Commanders through Bob Myers, the ex-general manager of his team.

Bob Myers, the former general manager of the Warriors franchise, has a seat on the hiring committee of the Commanders and as a result, his opinion is respected by the team.

Kerr reached out to Myers to recommend Quinn, John Keim of ESPN, reported,

Kerr, a four-time NBA Champion as coach...had struck up a friendship (with Dan Quinn) over the years; their agents work for the same company. Kerr texted Myers: 'He's your guy; you've got to hire him.

The last time Dan Quinn was an HC in the NFL, he led his team to the Super Bowl

Dan Quinn has a solid track record as a coach in the NFL. He led the Atlanta Falcons to the Super Bowl in 2017, while he failed to close the deal against the New England Patriots. He then went on to serve as the defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys, where he was able to build one of the best defenses in the NFL.

The ownership circle of the Washington Commanders has links to the NFL as well, Josh Harris, the owner of the team is the managing partner of the Philadelphia 76ers, not to mention Magic Johnson, the legendary point guard of the Los Angeles Lakers who is also part of the team’s ownership.

Bob Myers parted ways with the Warriors early in 2023. He was a vital piece in building the team’s dynasty as he was able to bring together key pieces, which ultimately led the team to win multiple NBA Championships.

The Washington Commanders brought him on board in an attempt to help transform the culture of the team. Over the years, the team has suffered a lot of mismanagement and has performed dismally.

It has been over three decades since the team made it to the Super Bowl and they have not won a playoff game since 2005. Dan Quinn has taken on a significantly challenging role by agreeing to be the HC of this team, but if he does manage to turn this program around, his capability as a head coach will be respected by all.
