Tough days ahead for the players who love gambling as the NFL authority is all set to tighten betting rules. As per sources, the league will be punishing the players who will be engaging in gambling activities. They can receive one year or even two years of suspension. In addition to this, the authority can also lose some of the regulations which will allow Jameson Williams to come back to the field early.
Under the new policy, as disclosed in a memo from commissioner Roger Goodell, the league will suspend a player for two years (without pay) if he places a bet on his team. In addition to this, the players will be suspended for one year if they put bets on any NFL game.
The authority is also thinking of including a lot of other rules. Betting on non-NFL sports at the team’s facility will receive a two-game violation for the first violation, a six-game suspension for the second violation, and a suspension for a year for the third violation. The revised policy will be applied to the players only.
“We periodically review the NFL Gambling Policy to ensure that it is responsive to changing circumstances and fully addresses our commitment to protect the integrity of the game,” Goodell wrote in the memo.” The revised gambling policy that we are issuing today provides that clarity and focus, and gives clear guidance to players about the consequences of violating the policy, ” the authority said.
With the tightening of rules, the NFL authority gives a solid message that it won’t be entertaining any betting further. However, the authority has also loosened some rules which will be helping players like Willams, Nick-Petit Frere, and free agent Stanley Berryhill to return to the field.

Sigh of relief for the players who got suspended due to the old policy
The new policy will provide a sigh of relief to some of the players who got suspended because of the old rule. The list of players includes the likes of Jameson Williams, Nick-Petit Frere and Stanley Berryhill. These players welcomed the news of the authority forming new rules for the upcoming season. The Detroit Lions WR, Williams’ father, James, shared his opinion with ESPN.

“I was praying for it, and normally when I pray for things for my children, it normally comes to fruition. Everybody kept telling me that the NFL don’t do this and the NFL don’t do that, but Roger is a great guy, man. I love Roger,” James said. Jameson Williams is expected to start in the coming weeks for the Lions.
Since 2018, more than twelve players, one assistant coach, and uncountable league personnel have been suspended because of the old rules.
