“They gotta get that love,” Tariq Carpenter offers his respect for the US military after NFL draft

Tariq Carpenter was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in one of the most high profile drafts of the NFL. The Packers drafted him in the seventh round of the draft in which they had 4 picks.
Carpenter became the 228th pick and is all set to play in the safety teams for Aaron Rodgers’ side in the coming season. The 23-year old is determined to honour the military given his roots in the US military service.
Tariq Carpenter spoke very highly of his mother who was in the US military

Tariq Carpenter’s mother spent a lot of time in the US military, and he knows what it takes for a member of the family. He spoke to the official NFL website, and spoke on why the military needs to be respected by everyone.
“Every home game, there’s people that’s present in uniform, I just try to show them some love tell them thank you for their service for the sacrifice they make for our country. They gotta get that love, i just owe it because my mom was in the army.”
Tariq Carpenter’s mother said, “Family was definitely one of the reasons that I joined the military, I said I want to stabilize for my kids. However, all that took was a big sacrifice, the big sacrifice was me being away from the children.”
Carpenter continued, “Whenever, she used to go overseas the first couple days was probably the toughest. You know that somebody was missing obviously, the mom of the house. I started getting into football when I was 5. The game of football, you know just get me on the track and I actually caught my first pick when my mom was overseas.”
