The Kansas City Chiefs are celebrating a hard-fought Super Bowl LVIII win over the San Francisco 49ers. Given that he led Kansas City on a game-winning overtime drive, Patrick Mahomes was undoubtedly a major factor in the team’s success. Nevertheless, during the game, a few 49ers defenders minimized Mahomes’ talent.
The Kansas City Chiefs’ offensive line was unable to withstand the pressure of the San Francisco 49ers’ pass rush, which caused Patrick Mahomes to start Super Bowl LVIII slowly. Even worse, early in the second half, he threw an interception to safety Ji’Ayir Brown.
Following that blunder, 49ers safety Tashaun Gipson Sr. took a dig at Mahomes while talking to brown and the Niners’ cornerback Isaiah Oliver. Gipson said:
He’s just a regular f******* quarterback, bro. Ain’t none different…He regular, bro, and we’re gonna make his a** look regular.Tashaun Gipson said
However, Mahomes showed that he wasn’t your typical player. He guided the Chiefs to a touchdown in the closing seconds of the game, earning the team their third Super Bowl in five years. The superstar QB finished the game with 333 passing yards and two touchdowns.
The Chiefs became the first team since the New England Patriots 20 years ago to repeat as Super Bowl champions. Mahomes, just like Tom Brady with the Patriots, has weaved his way into the GOAT conversations and he will look to lead his team to another Super Bowl title next year.
Patrick Mahomes’ mom believes that her son will surpass Tom Brady as the GOAT quarterback
Patrick Mahomes, a star player for the Kansas City Chiefs, will surpass Tom Brady’s seven Super Bowl rings to become the greatest NFL player of all time, according to his mother.
Although Patrick is not the most athletically gifted player, his mother Randi Mahomes, 48, acknowledges that his unwavering will to win more than any other player will keep him at the top of the game for many years to come.
She said on Shaquille O’Neal‘s carnival-themed music festival:
I know that he has the will and the want because there's a lot of players that might be athletically better than someone, but that he has that passion and that dream and that not giving up [attitude]. And so I know that he has that and never was my dream for it to be football. But you know what? That is what his dream is and so I know he could do it.Randi Mahomes said
The two-time league MVP finished the game with 333 passing yards and a couple of touchdowns. He won his third Super Bowl MVP and has firmly established himself as one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game.
