“I didn’t want pity” Former NFL QB Terry Bradshaw opens up on battling two different cancer diagnoses in the same year

Terry Bradshaw is a former NFL Hall of Famer who had an amazing career in the NFL. After hanging up his cleats for good, Bradshaw became an NFL analyst and worked as a commentator.
Bradshaw recently came out in the open about his cancer survival story. The former NFL QB was first diagnosed with bladder cancer as he was working as an analyst.
Terry recently opened up about his struggles and stated that people started hating him on TV as he couldn’t talk properly and was having trouble breathing.
“I couldn’t breathe. That’s when everybody notices,” Bradshaw reflected in a Today interview with NBC News correspondent Harry Smith. “Social media went, ‘Get rid of him. He needs to be off the air. He’s an embarrassment.’ And I was like, ‘Embarrassment? I got cancer.’”
Terry Bradshaw didn’t inform anyone about his diagnosis and he tried to battle it alone for quite some time before breaking the news to his family. When asked why he didn’t inform anyone, Bradshaw had an interesting reason. He said he didn’t want anyone’s pity and was strong enough to fight it alone.
“I didn’t talk about it because I didn’t want pity. I didn’t talk about it because a lot of celebrities — unfortunately, I’m one of those — when they say this, I think the perception around America with all the millions of people is, ‘Aw, look at him. Bless his heart. He has cancer. Well, my husband died of cancer!’” Terry Bradshaw stated on Today interview. “I didn’t want that.”

Terry Bradshaw seemed rejuvenated after his cancer treatment and seemed to have gained a new meaning in life. Before the interview ended, the former Steelers QB stated that he wishes to travel the world with his wife. The Hall of Famer said he still has 25-30 years left, although he wished to live his life like there’s only one year left.
“Folks, I may not look like my old self, but I feel like my old self,” Bradshaw said. “I’m cancer free. I’m feeling great and over time I’m going to be back to where I normally am. So I appreciate your prayers and your concern.”
Bradshaw also credited his wife for sticking with him during the tough times and being a catalyst in his recovery. Terry credited his recovery to his wife Tammy.
“I look at her and she doesn’t know I’m looking at her, and I’m so thankful now I’m getting emotional.” Terry Bradshaw stated at the end of his interview.
