The Buccaneers-Patriots legend Tom Brady is one of the greatest athletes of the 21st century. Brady was able to play till 45 years of age thanks to his strict diet and personalized training method. The legendary QB is known for his obsession with eating healthy food and being disciplined, which helped Brady to achieve unprecedented longevity as an NFL quarterback.

But before he became the face of the NFL, the New England Patriots legend once had a lot of fun in high school as a teenager smoking weed, drinking alcohol and just partying a lot. During an interview on The Howard Stern Show in 2020, the 15-time Pro Bowl QB blatantly admitted to using marijuana just to fit in with certain types of guys.

“I definitely wanted to fit in with the crowd that went to the parties and had fun and I was kind of friends with those guys,” Brady told Stern when asked if sports kept him from partying too much in high school. “But in the end what kept me from smoking a lot of weed — obviously in high school you try that and drink and go to parties — but I always felt like I was letting my dad down.”

Tom Brady is known as the golden boy in the NFL, so to imagine Brady smoking weed and partying is absolutely comical. But the 3-time league MVP QB knew he had to stay away from that habit for one particular reason.

Unlike a lot of people who party a lot in high school, the former Buccaneers signal-caller Tom Brady knew he had to quit that habit because of his dad. Brady revealed in the same interview that there was alcoholism in his family with his grandfather, but the QB’s will to not let his dad down played a huge role in him staying away from drugs in high school.

“My dad was always available to me. So in a way, when I would do those things, I always felt really guilty. If I woke up the next morning with a hangover, I just felt guilty,” Brady said. “I definitely had fun in high school with partying and drinking and smoking weed on occasion,” Brady told in an interview with Howard Stern in 2020.

So it seems like even Tom Brady has broken one or two rules as a teenager. Nevertheless, the Patriots and the Buccaneers fans can be thankful that Brady was able to keep his mind straight during his teenage years.
