Tom Brady proffers uncharacteristic career advice to Aaron Rodgers amidst retirement rumors
Tom Brady expresses how he feels about fellow veteran QB Aaron Rodgers possibly retiring from the NFL.
Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady
NFL legend Tom Brady recently spoke about Aaron Rodgers possibly playing his last game for the Green Bay Packers, and quite possibly, his last game in the NFL too. Rodgers is currently 39 and is nowhere near his prime. For the first time in many years, he couldn’t rally the Packers into the playoffs and after a shaky season, Rodgers’ retirement talks have started all around the NFL world.
The Packers had to beat the Lions in their last regular season game to qualify for the playoffs but they lost the game 16-20 and finished the season with a poor 8-9 record. There was a lot of talk about Rodgers’ retirement after this game as he refused to give his jersey to one of the Lions’ players stating and even walked out of the stadium in an odd fashion.
Speaking on his Let’s Go! podcast, Brady said whatever Rodgers displayed on the camera, were legitimate feelings and emotions and also gave him career advice. He said that he himself made a mistake of an early retirement only to regret it later. He added that Rodgers is spectacular and in his opinion, could continue to play because he still has the ability to do wonders on the field but also said that whatever decision the 39-year-old makes, everyone should be respectful about it.
“Those are absolutely legitimate feelings and emotions,” Brady said. “I think the important thing is the day after the season – and I made this mistake [during his brief retirement] – is not to decide the future. Aaron, in my belief, is spectacular. He can obviously continue to play and he has all the ability in the world to do that. And there’s a lot of other things that come into play and he’ll make that decision when it’s right for him. And everyone should give him the time and space to do it.”

Has Aaron Rodgers played his last game in the NFL?
Aaron Rodgers has still not confirmed his intentions going into the off-season. After the Lions game, he said that he will wait for a couple of months and analyze the situation well before making a decision.
“I’m not going to hold them hostage,” Rodgers said. “I understand, we’re still in January here, March is free agency, so I just need some time to, like I said, get the emotion out of it and figure out what’s best.”
By the looks of it, it is highly unlikely that Rodgers will announce his retirement. He may change teams and in that case, he has already played his last game for the Packers.
