“You’re sticking with that m*****fer?”: Tom Brady’s reaction to the Raiders choosing Derek Carr over him is PRICELESS
Rob Gronkowski, Tom Brady, and Jon Gruden
It was recently revealed that Tom Brady almost ended up being a Las Vegas Raider, the quarterback was already in the process of looking for houses to buy in the area until former Head Coach Jon Gruden pulled the plug on the entire trade that would have brought not only Tom Brady to the Raiders but also HOF tight end Rob Gronkowski as well. UFC President Dana White had orchestrated this trade that ended up going south at the last moment.
Rob Gronkowski confirmed this but turns out, Tom Brady was trying to tell us about this all along. The now Tampa Bay Buccaneer in a sit-down interview on LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s show, ‘The Barbershop’ had gotten into a conversation where he indicated that there was a lot of interest from a team that was a lucrative landing spot for him, the two had mutual interest and almost ended up closing a deal but at the last moment, they chickened out.

Tom Brady was in disbelief after being passed upon by the Raiders:
Tom Brady said, “There was a team in free agency that were interested and all of a sudden they weren’t interested at the very end, I was sitting there thinking, ‘You’re sticking with that motherf*****r? Are you serious?’ At the back of my head I’m thinking, ‘There’s no way I would have went to that team, they said they didn’t want me and I know what that means and I know what that feels like, and I’m going to f***k you up because of that,” if you are Derek Carr reading this statement, you probably do not like Brady as much now.
Tom hinted that there was a team but did not mention any names but now that Dana White‘s story is out in the open, we know who it was and all the parties involved that blew the whole trade up. The quarterback did not specify anything about Rob Gronkowski also being a part of the trade but that may have been because Robby G was still retired at that point and his coming out of retirement was supposed to be revealed at a later point.
But towards the end of that statement, we see classic Tom Brady, the competitor within him who carries grudges against those who may have disrespected him in some form or the other, and we know that TB12 hates not being picked, the man still has not gotten over the fact that he was picked in the sixth round of the NFL draft despite winning 7 Super Bowls! We can expect him to go off in every game against the Las Vegas Raiders from now onwards.
The reason Jon Gruden blew this deal up is that he knew if he had a veteran like Brady, he would have to give up a lot of control over the team away and Gruden does not like giving power away. Tom’s locker room presence would have translated to success on the field but if you are Jon Gruden, you want to show that you are the reason the team won a ring, not Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski. You can see what happened in Tampa Bay, Bruce Arians was the Head Coach when the veteran got there and now, Todd Bowles is taking over because Brady likes the way Bowles thinks, there were bound to be a lot of clashes between Gruden and Brady if he did end up being a Raider and the organization would definitely side with Tom because he knows what he’s talking about. For disappointed Raiders fans, at least you got Derek Carr and Davante Adams, that has to be some sort of consolation for losing out on the two greatest players to play at their respective positions.
