Chiefs TE Travis Kelce had once bagged BIG MONEY in Vegas, thanks to Lakers legend Kobe Bryant

Travis Kelce, who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL, is well known for his accomplishments on the football field. He has been to 8 consecutive Pro Bowls and is the fastest to reach 10,000 receiving yards as a tight end. However, there’s one story of his that many fans are not aware of. An incident where he once won a lot of money while gambling because of the late Kobe Bryant.

The Chiefs had just won the Super Bowl in 2019. They beat the San Francisco 49ers after erasing a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter. Patrick Mahomes passed for 286 yards and 2 touchdowns. Kelce also played an important role as he caught 6 passes for 43 yards and completed one touchdown.

After the Super Bowl, the Chiefs hit the Las Vegas casinos and Travis Kelce won big money betting on Kobe Bryant’s jersey number. Speaking on 610 Sports Radio’s The Drive during the early stages of the 2020 season after the Chiefs’ road game against the Las Vegas Raiders, Patrick Mahomes answered the host’s question about his previous visits to Sin City. The QB said that he went to Vegas after the 2020 Super Bowl and he remembered it being fun.

Patrick then answered the question about his gambling experiences in Vegas, the Chiefs QB said he didn’t gamble but proceeded to narrate a story about Kelce’s bet. “No but, Travis Kelce — it was actually right after Kobe Bryant died — he actually hit on black 24 on the first roll of roulette. So, it was a pretty crazy story,” said Mahomes. Kobe Bryant used to wear jersey no. 24 in the later years of his NBA career.

Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes have developed chemistry thanks to these off-field activities. They have become one of the most unstoppable quarterback-tight end duos in the National Football League.

Travis Kelce has put himself in the conversation about the great tight ends in NFL history. He puts up ‘receiver-like’ numbers year after year with the Kansas City Chiefs and can block blitzers when he is asked to.

The Cincinnati Bearcats product was drafted in the 3rd round at the 2013 NFL draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. Since then he has been to 8 Pro Bowls and been named All-Pro three times. Kelce has also won one Super Bowl ring with the Chiefs. The TE also has seven consecutive 1000-yards receiving seasons, a feat even most wide receivers can only dream of. He has been the vital piece behind Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ domination in recent years.

While Kelce still has a lot of catching up to do to be crowned as the greatest tight end of all time, he doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. With Patrick Mahomes as his QB and an offensive scheme that doesn’t call for a lot of blocking by the tight end, it seems like Kelce’s career is headed toward the greatest career by a tight end.

Travis Kelce, however, won’t be looking up that far in his career now. He will be focusing on the Seattle Seahawks, who the Kansas City Chiefs will be playing against this weekend.
