The Jacksonville Jaguars lost a close encounter against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football. It was a closely contested encounter that went in favor of the Bengals in the OT. They ended up winning the game with a margin of 34-31.
Despite the loss, the Jaguars would have a sigh of relief that their quarterback Trevor Lawrence has not suffered a crucial injury. At least his condition is not serious.
During the game, Lawrence suffered an injury on his ankle. His ankle sprained. He had no other option except to leave the field. It triggered concern among the team management and the fans. This year’s NFL has witnessed a lot of players leaving the field and not coming back. Joe Burrow and Aaron Rodgers‘ names can be cited here.
However, Lawrence would not count him under the list of players with season-ending injuries. He attended the post-game press conference and seemed normal to everyone. The presence of Lawrence gives the high-speed offense of the Jaguars a special character. His playmaking often causes damage to the hearts of the opponent. With more than 3,000 yards Lawrence has registered 14 touchdowns this season. His special touch was seen in the game against the Bengals as well.
Spectators were amused to see Trevor Lawrence not taking a cart
Despite suffering an ankle sprain, Lawrence did not take a cart. He walked through the ground to his dressing room. Everyone was shocked to see Lawrence walking. They had one question in mind. Where were the carts? Some even argued that the Jaguars do not have enough carts to carry their players.
However, Lawrence later confirmed what actually happened. In the post-game presentation, the QB explained his position and denied all possibilities of not having carts in the medical room.
Lawrence said:
We have an amazing medical staff that takes care of us in every way that you can imagine,Anything that we need, they're always there. They work pretty much around the clock to take care of us. So we got one of, if not the best in the league.
He later clarified that he was the one who declined the cart despite being offered. The QB said:
We talked about getting a cart, and I was gonna get a cart, and then I'm standing there. I'm already on the sideline at that point, the tunnel is right there. I just wanted to get off the field and get out of there. I didn't know what was going on with my ankle and I felt like I could get off. I was like, 'Hey, you're good. Just don't bring it out. I'm going in.
Lawrence’s statement revealed that his injury was not very serious. Nonetheless, it is to be seen whether he will feature in the next match.
