“Miami revolved around us”: Tua Tagovailoa is looking to make the Dolphins the biggest show in Florida once again

There are some NFL teams that have a rich history and these teams have been the reason that the residents of a particular region feel pride in associating themselves with that region. The New England Patriots have been that team in the past decade or so but going back more, it was the era of other teams.

In the 1970s and 1980s, it was all about the Miami Dolphins who went to three straight Super Bowls in the 70s and achieved what was perceived as impossible back then, recording a perfect season without a single loss. In the next decade, they went to two more Super Bowls and when Dan Marino arrived there, the team experienced some of its most iconic years.

“We’re trying to re-establish the culture in Miami”: Tua Tagovailoa wants the Dolphins to be as relevant as they were in the 80s

The Dolphins since that point on have had an extremely tumultuous journey. The team has been to the playoffs twice in the last two decades losing both games. It is evident that they have not added to their trophy cabinet nor lived up to their rich history. The team has faced a lot of setbacks but now after a long time, things seem to be looking up for them.

Tua Tagovailoa, the quarterback for the Dolphins is back this season and is looking to have the best season of his career. He has a chip on his shoulder and a lot to prove to the league and to help him do this, the team has given him a key weapon in the form of Tyreek Hill who also has a lot to prove as this will be his first season without Patrick Mahomes in a long time.

Tua appeared on Hill’s podcast and stated that he wants to turn the team’s fortune around and make the Dolphins the biggest show in Miami. “It means a lot playing for the Miami Dolphins, at one point, the city of Miami revolved around the Dolphins, because the Dolphins were really the only professional sports team that was out here at one point. And then the Heat came in, the Panthers came. But really that’s what we’re trying to do, We’re trying to re-establish the culture back here in Miami.”

The Tyreek and Tua show has begun in Miami, the biggest question is will it actually be entertaining or will it fall short of the hype? In recent years, the Miami Heat have become the biggest sports attraction in Florida as the team has been more successful at making playoff runs and NBA Finals appearances. Tua clearly has ambitious goals, however, will he be able to fulfill them or not, only time will tell.
