Asante Samuel and Bill Belichick had a massive fallout at the tail end of the cornerback’s career. Samuel has time and time again shared his discontent with the New England Patriots HC. Recently, Samuel was speaking to CBS Sports and was asked an interesting question. The former Patriots CB was asked if Belichick is the greatest HC of all time and he immediately denied by calling the interviewer ‘crazy’.

“Absolutely not. Are you crazy? Look at his record without Tom. You gotta win without Tom. One thing I learnt about being great, you got to be great in different situations. It was all Tom. I was there. I saw it. It was Tom. Everybody know it. Tom know it,” Asante Samuel stated. “But he ain’t gonna admit it because he want to be politically correct. That’s why I’m here. I’mma tell the truth. I’ve been there. I’ve seen it. I confronted him, and we’ve been through it, and that’s how I do.”

Samuel won consecutive Super Bowls during his time with the Patriots and was even selected for the Pro Bowl. However, his personal feud with Belichick led him to deny his legacy. Still, many on social media weren’t happy with Asante Samuel’s answer and quickly called him out for his personal bias. Bill Belichick won 6 Super Bowls with the Patriots and established a longstanding legacy that still is intact. Although the Patriots haven’t been able to perform since Tom Brady moved to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it doesn’t take away from the legacy that Belichick has created with them.

NFL Twitter quickly took notice of Asante Samuel’s comments on CBS Sports and called the former CB out for his ignorance. Many believe that he is just being ‘salty’ due to his personal feud with Bill Belichick. However, there were some who agreed with his assessment and believe that Belichick is nothing without Brady. The stats also support that assessment as the Patriots have failed to make a massive impact in the NFL since the departure of the legendary QB.

Nonetheless, Samuel was trolled for his statement and many believe that the former Patriots CB was nothing without Belichick. There were also many who called him out for being incompetent during important games.

Asante Samuel retired from the NFL several years ago but still speaks about Bill Belichick and his legacy. On the other hand, the Patriots HC has led the team for over 2 decades and is still going strong.
