WATCH: “Greatest throw of his f***ing career” – NFL Twitter in shock as Dak Prescott welcomes T. Y. Hilton to the Cowboys with a CLUTCH throw
Dak Prescott and TY Hilton
On Christmas eve, the Dallas Cowboys registered a famous win over divisional rivals and conference leaders Philadelphia Eagles to stay alive in the race for NFC East supremacy. The Cowboys played a brilliant offensive game led by quarterback Dak Prescott to win the game 40-34 courtesy of a fourth-quarter brilliance. They have gone up 11-4 for the season and have gained much-needed momentum after last week’s shocking loss to the Jaguars.
The Eagles had a terrific start to the game as an early pick-six by Josh Sweat put them in front 10-0. All eyes were on Prescott and this time, he didn’t disappoint. The 29-year-old is always accused of succumbing to pressure but this time, he responded with some calculated drives to get the Cowboys back in the game. Both Prescott and Eagles QB Gardner Minshew were at par with each other and after the third quarter, the scores were level at 27-27.
The Eagles were first to score a touchdown and took an early lead in the fourth quarter and Prescott was once again under pressure. And that’s when he stepped up and at 3rd and 30, threw a decisive ball to wide receiver T. Y. Hilton which could be termed as one of the best plays of his career. This was also Hilton’s first impact as a Cowboy and he couldn’t have done it better. Given the pressure Prescott was under in the context of the game, it makes it even more significant and impactful.
The Cowboys were a better team in the last quarter offensively and Prescott was the main man in their success. Amidst the Cowboys’ win, the fact that the Eagles’ main QB and MVP candidate, Jalen Hurts didn’t play the game couldn’t be ignored. It also cements that Minshew is absolutely a capable backup for Hurts.
Dak Prescott gets lauded on social media for his performance
Fans have always been very critical of Dak Prescott and there is no one else to blame than him. He has always shown glimpses of brilliance but has been very inconsistent over the years. This time, fans lauded him for this particular play, and overall, were very happy with his outing against the conference leaders.
The Cowboys are now 11-4 for the season and will have to win their remaining two matches in order to keep their bid to top the NFC East division alive. They will take on the Titans and the Commanders in the coming two weeks.
