The Green Bay Packers are in a mini rebuild phase after losing their franchise QB Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets in the 2023 off-season. They added some elite talents in the draft as they addressed the pass-rushing and their tight-end needs. And now, they have addressed their defensive back needs by adding the former Houston Texans defensive back Jonathan Owens.
Jonathan Owens, who recently got married to the famed Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, announced on social that he’s signing a new contract with the Packers after spending the last 4 years in Houston. “New beginnings. Perfect cap to an amazing week. Let’s get to work,” Owens wrote on Instagram under the picture of him signing the contract with his wife Simone Biles in a Packers sweatshirt.
Owens started his career as an undrafted free agent with the Arizona Cardinals, but due to some injuries, he never saw the field during his time with the Cardinals. However, soon after that injury-riddled season, Owens signed a contract with the Houston Texans, where he slowly emerged and became the starter for the Texans in the 2022 season.
During the 2022 season, Owens started all 17 games and registered 125 total tackles, 1 sack, and 1 fumble return. And now, he’ll try to fill the void in the defensive back position in Green Bay.

Biles was happy for her husband and shared their picture on Instagram with the caption, “Slight wedding content intermission to say GO PACK GO. So proud of you baby! here’s to new beginnings! year 6! LFG!”
The 27-year-old defensive back married the 26-year-old Olympic gold medalist at a courthouse wedding in Texas in April 2023. The duo met on a dating app and were dating for more than 2 years before they decided to get married.
And now, the talented defensive back will look to help the Packers remain competitive in the improved NFC North division. The Packers have stacked up a talented roster and if Jordan Love can perform at a high level, they could sneak into the playoffs in the 2023 season.
