Urban Meyer was hired by the Jaguars after a revolutionary performance with his old team, Ohio State, and a lot was expected of him when he set foot in Jacksonville. However, the former Jaguars HC failed miserably at his job and was fired after just one season in charge of the team.

Meyer was replaced by HC Doug Pederson and things have improved for the Jaguars since then. The players favor the new HC over the previous one as it was pretty relevant in a recent interview by Jaguars safety Andrew Wingard.

Wingard performed exceptionally well for the Jaguars in their most recent win against the Ravens. The safety made three tackles and forced a fumble late in the fourth quarter.

In his post-game interview, Wingard praised his teammate QB Trevor Lawrence for his resilience and even dragged the former HC Urban Meyer while criticizing him.

“I’m just so happy for Trevor because he had to deal with Urban Meyer last year as a rookie, and I don’t even know if he had a rookie year. And to see the growth he’s made, not just on the field, but just like his preparation, his demeanor, all that.” Andrew Wingard stated in his post-game interview.

Meyer had an abysmal time with the Jaguars as the former HC was involved in various scandals and the team was also not playing well during that time.

Trevor Lawrence has improved a lot since the departure of Urban Meyer

Urban Meyer wasn’t able to replicate his Ohio State class in Jacksonville and was fired because of that. Although the biggest drop in form was seen by QB Trevor Lawrence who struggled immensely under the former HC.

Lawrence had the best game of his career on Sunday when the Jaguars beat the Ravens. The QB completed the game with 321 passing yards and 29 pass completions for three touchdowns.

Andrew Wingard also gave a nod to his current HC Doug Pederson in the same interview and stated his admiration for him. “I would die for Doug Pederson, I swear. I would run into battle with Doug Pederson 100 percent. I love the guy and his attitude.” Wingard stated.

The Jaguars are currently 3rd in their division with a 4-7 record. The Jacksonville-based team will have to get a win in the majority of their remaining games to have a chance at playoffs as they face the Lions in their next game.
