“Wanted both Mac Jones and Tom Brady,” Michael Lombardi makes ASTONISHING claim about the San Francisco 49ers
The smallest of mistakes can go and destroy an organization’s hope for an NFL championship. The 49ers have been perennial contenders for the Super Bowl. Michael Lombardi, a former football player, and current media analyst, recently came out on The Pat McAfee Show with an interesting piece of news about the San Francisco 49ers franchise.
He said on the most recent episode of the show that, “Kyle Shanahan wanted Mac Jones & Tom Brady… The resistance factor within that building said no to both & this is the residual effect of that”. The residual effect that he is referring to was also addressed by him in the show saying that “Trey Lance is not ready to play and Kyle knows that something needs to be done”.

The control of higher-ups has been defined as quite high as Michael Lombardi dissects the situation at the 49ers
This is in direct connection with the entire Jimmy Garoppolo saga as the 49ers are desperate for their quarterback to stay as the head coach himself thinks that Trey Lance isn’t ready to play yet. Jimmy G is returning to the 49ers on 1 year guaranteed deal with his role as Trey Lance’s backup.
Lombardi’s comments also go to show that the higher-ups in the organization hold the ultimate power to make all the decisions whether that would lead to benefit or downfall. Lombardi also brought up the time when the 49ers wanted to get their hands on Tom Brady but the management said no to the idea. He also recounts the time when Shanahan wanted to pick Mac Jones as the 3rd overall pick but was stopped by the management for the reason that the 3rd pick was too high of a cost for a player like Mac Jones.
Kyle Shanahan had correctly analyzed Mac Jones’s play but the 49ers went with Trey Lance and we can all see the predicament that the 49ers are now in. The situation in San Francisco seems to be okay now as Garoppolo is back and they have a full roster before the deadline. Let’s see how the season unfolds for the 49ers.
