The New Orleans Saints are playing the New York Giants at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Both these teams are coming off of impressive wins in their previous games. The Saints destroyed the Carolina Panthers, 28-6, whereas the Giants edged out the Green Bay Packers at home 24-22. The Saints are 6-7 so far and the Giants are 5-8.

Saints are leading their game against the Giants 7-6 at halftime. The Giants opened the scoring with a field goal by Randy Bullock. However, the Saints answered right back with a Keith Kirkwood touchdown. During the later stages of the half, the Giants had the ball and were looking to take the lead. However, things got chippy on the field when Giants’ QB Tommy DeVito received a nasty late hit from a Saints defenseman.

With 45 seconds left in the game, DeVito scrambled for a first down conversion on a 1st and 10. However, just when he was going down with a slide, Saints’ CB Alontae Taylor delivered a late hit on DeVito.

The rookie QB laid down on the field for some time before gingerly getting on his feet. His fellow Giants teammates got into Taylor’s face for the hit and a melee broke out. The refs managed to calm things down and the Giants were able to convert a field goal before halftime to cut the Saints’ lead to one point.

The Saints will look to win the game and keep themselves in contention for a playoff spot. The Giants are pretty much out of the playoff picture, but have been playing well recently. DeVito so far has completed 9 of his 16 pass attempts for 74 yards against the New Orleans-based team.

Brian Daboll had high praise for Tommy DeVito

The New York Giants have experienced a mini turnaround under rookie QB Tommy DeVito. They have won three games in a row and are looking to improve on that against the New Orleans Saints. DeVito replaced the injured Daniel Jones who tore his ACL in the first week of November. Giants’ HC Brain Daboll dished out praise for DeVito after the rookie helped his team win a third game in a row against the Green Bay Packers last Monday.

It’s his job. Third game of over a hundred quarterback rating.
Daboll said after the game.
He made good decisions, took care of the ball, used him in the run game. Just keep developing him. He’s improving. The kid’s done a good job.

The Giants are 5-8 this season. They failed to build on their impressive Divisional Round run last year and started the season 1-5. However, DeVito seems to instilled a new belief in this team and they are playing some great football at the moment.
