Defensive end Ogbonnia Okoronkwo more popularly known as Ogbo Okoronkwo signed with the Cleveland Browns this March from the Houston Texans. He is already taking part in their training camp and recently an ugly interaction happened between him and James Hudson.
It seemed like Ogbonnia Okoronkwo gave teammate James Hudson a friendly slap on the back of the helmet but Hudson didn’t take it well and ran after the former and punched him. Teammates had to be involved as they tried to separate the two of them throwing punches at each other. In the process, Hudson’s helmet even came off.
Things got pretty messy and Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski had to be involved. Practice was stopped for a while and players were then told to run from one side to the other. He also gathered all the players for a short chat which can be guessed was about the incident which had occurred.
Head coach Kevin Stefanski did not read too much into the fight blaming it on the sultry weather conditions in Cleveland
Speaking about the situation, Kevin Stefanski said that such kind of events revolving around fighting and arguments happen in every training camp and are normal. The fight did not surprise Stefanski as he blamed it on the hot weather conditions which make players irritable quickly.
“Fighting, altercations, and jawing occur in every training camp and at every level of football. They have been fighting each other. They are hot, and they are exhausted. So I’m not at all surprised. They discussed it, and it is now over.”
However, Stefanski also mentioned that this type of behaviour is not welcome at all. He urged his teammates to maintain discipline in practice, and not throw punches toward one another. “If you’re throwing punches in games, you get thrown out of the game. So why practice something that would get you thrown out of a game? So, we will address that, obviously, but I don’t think anybody’s ever been around a bunch of football players in the heat that don’t get a little agitated, if you will.”
The hilarious fact is that Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson kept himself away from the fight, and was not spotted even while his teammates jumped in to break it up.
