Aaron Rodgers has only been an energetic spectator at the New York Jets touchline for their first three preseason games so far. Since his move in the summer, fans have longed for the chance to see the veteran quarterback play in the Gang Green colors. It seems their prayers are finally about to be answered.

The four-time MVP is set to appear against their cross-town rivals, the New York Giants, on Saturday. It will take place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, but technically, it’s the Jets away day.

Rodgers’ second, Zach Wilson, started the previous games and has performed well, sparking enthusiasm among the spectators. However, all eyes will be on the Super Bowl winner as he makes his first appearance for the New York Jets.

Incidentally, this will be the first time since 2018 (against the Pittsburgh Steelers) that the 39-year-old will play a preseason game. Head coach Robert Saleh had teased that if Rodgers were to play in any friendly matches, it would be against the Giants. But he emphasized that if the Pro Bowler does take to the field, it will only be for a short period of time.

However, Aaron Rodgers has previously stated that he doesn’t “see any benefit” to playing one series in the preseason. So the fans can expect to see more than just one-half of the play from A-Rod.

“I wouldn’t mind if Robert said,” he claimed. “Most coaches have that fear where they want to get you to Week 1 without risk. But I believe there is a chance for the last one.” (H/T: ProFootballTalk)

Rodgers is getting on in his career. He has been in the NFL for more than 15 years and is in the twilight of his football legacy. That doesn’t mean he is ready to call it quits just yet. His move to the Big Apple signaled that he still has the hunger he had in 2011.

So when he was asked about how long he would continue, the future Hall of Famer revealed more than one year. “I think we’re gonna be competitive here for a long time,” he revealed during an interview with CBS New York. “I’d like to be able to play a few good years here.”

Then the former Bay Signal caller promised to pass down the torch to his understudy, Zach Wilson.” [I will] hand it right back off to Zach and let him go for the next 15. It’d be a really special 18-20 year run of great quarterback play,” Rodgers said.
