Damar Hamlin‘s freak incident was the biggest story of the 2022 season. The Buffalo Bills defensive back suffered a massive injury that shook the sporting world and put a halt to the young man’s football career. However, 3 months after the injury, the Bills GM has revealed there’s a chance that Damar Hamlin could return to playing football again.

During the week 17 game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Buffalo Bills, Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest after a collision with the Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins. Moreover, the six-foot defensive back had to be administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) before he could be transferred to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

He spent multiple days in the critical care unit before he could make a recovery. After spending multiple days in the Cincinnati hospital, Hamlin was then transferred to a Buffalo hospital, where he continued to get the best medical treatment. Finally, nine days after the freak incident, Hamlin was discharged from the hospital and sent home to continue his recovery.

And now, more than 3 months after the injury, the Bills‘ general manager Brandon Beane has revealed that there is a possibility that Hamlin could give a comeback to play football again.

During a recent press conference, the Bills GM Brandon Beane told the reporters that Damar Hamlin still has one hospital checkup lined up but he is “trending in the right direction.”

“We’ll get him through all [medical consultations] and then we’ll make sure all of our medical people are hearing all those opinions on each visit and make sure that we’re all on the same page of what it would look like,” Beane said. Hamlin has always been vocal about his desire to get back on the football field, but his doctors are more concerned about getting him back to his normal life instead of rushing him back to the gridiron.

“It’s a tough situation,” Hamlin said in February to The New York Post. “They can’t really tell, because it’s like — it’s an up-to-me thing I guess or, you know, it’s just — it’s a long road. They’re just worried about trying to get me back to normal as much as they can.”

Anyway, Damar Hamlin is a great competitor. In fact, the doctors revealed that the first question Hamlin asked after he woke up in the hospital was “did we win” (referring to the game he was injured in). But he has suffered a cardiac arrest, so it is highly unlikely that the league would see him dressing up to play the game anytime soon.
