YouTuber turned professional boxer Jake Paul had the first fight of his career and was handed a quick defeat by Tommy Fury in Saudi Arabia on Sunday night. Everyone expected Jake Paul to lose since he was up against a professional boxer who has won all of his nine encounters.
Everyone on social media started trolling Jake Paul, but there was one person who came to the defense of the YouTuber, — Odell Beckham Jr. The superstar wide receiver took to Twitter and praised him for venturing out of his wheel box and trying to excel in one of the most difficult sports in the world. OBJ tweeted, “Give Jake Paul his credit! Much luv Brodie”
Many suggested Jake Paul to return to creating YouTube videos and OBJ had an answer for that as well. “Nah for sure! But respect no? Man’s worked hard to pick up a skill . Went the distance , fought hard? U disagree,” the wideout wrote out.
Looks like Jake Paul has left an impression on the former Rams’ wider receiver. Let’s hope Paul also gives the same love to OBJ when he plays in the 2023 season.
Odell Beckham Jr.’s future in the NFL
Odell Beckham Jr. signed with the Los Angeles Rams midway through the 2021 season after a big feud with the Cleveland Browns. With the Rams, OBJ regained his status as one of the best wide receivers in the league and he went off for the team. He assisted Los Angeles to reach the Super Bowl and scored the first touchdown of the game.
However, during the Super Bowl, he was injured and had to excuse himself from the rest of the game. The Super Bowl LVI champion spent the entire offseason recovering from the ACL surgery. OBJ remained an unsigned free agent for the entirety of the 2022 season. There were speculations that the Rams would resign him, but they didn’t due to some unexplained reasons.
There were also rumors about the Dallas Cowboys signing OBJ onto their offense to take the pressure off of CeeDee Lamb, but even that hasn’t materialized yet. The 30-year-old needs to find a team to play for in 2023 soon. Green Bay Packers might be a suitable landing spot for OBJ but the franchise won’t be able to accommodate him if Aaron Rodgers decides to return. Anyway, the Packers might draft Ohio State wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba as calculated by experts, which would be a financially safer option.
The Buffalo Bills could use OBJ since Stefon Diggs looks a bit frustrated with the team’s inability to win it at the conference championship game, which was evident from his sideline outburst in the divisional loss to the Bengals. Nothing is set in stone, but Beckham needs to be on the lookout for teams in need of his expertise.
