Cincinnati Bengals coach Zac Taylor has spoken at a press conference detailing Monday night’s incident on the field. Buffalo Bills defensive back Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field after tackling Bengals Tee Higgins after which the safety suffered a cardiac arrest.

Following the horrifying incident, the Bengals vs. Bills match has been held off indefinitely. In a statement, the Bills noted, “Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest following a hit in our game versus the Bengals.”

“His heartbeat was restored on the field and he was transferred to the UC Medical Center for further testing and treatment”. “He is currently sedated and listed in critical condition.”

Zac during his recent press conference revealed his conversation with Higgins, noting that he and Hamlin’s Pitt college teammate Tyler Boyd were affected the most. When asked about Higgins’ present condition, he stated that he’ll be fine.

Zac Taylor noted, “Tee (Higgins) has handled it well.” The chilling scene of Damar Hamlin collapsing on the field was quickly followed by CPR, as teammates and Bengals players guarded Hamlin against the public view.  It wasn’t until early Tuesday that Hamlin’s condition update was released.

Reportedly, the defensive back got hurt during tackling hours when Bengals receiver Tee Higgins played his role. Higgins’ move against Hamlin was nothing unusual in the game. During the tackling, Higgins’ right shoulder hit the 24-year-old in the chest.

Though everything seemed to have settled down, Hamlin fell on the ground just 3 seconds later, laying there motionless. It was a horrifying situation, one that no player would ever want to see or repeat. 

As of now, the Bengals are listed to play against Baltimore Ravens while the Bills take on New England Patriots on Sunday. The face-off between the Bengals and Bills likely would be on hold until Hamlin gets the green signal from the hospital.

Bills’ quarterback Josh Allen tweeted, “Please pray for our brother”. After getting Hamlin to the emergency room, about 100 Bills fans and even Bengals fans gathered at the location praying and holding candles. The incident is not only within the NFL anymore, but sports organizations from different parts of the country have come together to pray for Hamlin’s healthy comeback.
