Zach Wilson was projected as the next big thing in the NFL, but the New York Jets quarterback is currently not even the starting quarterback of the franchise that believed in him. Due to a series of poor outings this season, the Jets decided to go with Mike White as their QB1 instead of Wilson a couple of weeks ago.

Reportedly, the Jets’ players were very happy that Wilson was out of the starting lineup. Not only was he underperforming massively and wasn’t leading the offense to its best, but he also didn’t bode well with his teammates and there were reports that the players weren’t happy with Wilson’s attitude.

The players even celebrated in favor of Mike White to rub it in Wilson’s face. The 23-year-old has been named the backup quarterback for White in the Jets’ upcoming clash against the Lions. Ahead of that, he spoke about how he has been coping with him being snubbed. “Yeah, I definitely believe in myself,” Wilson said via Pro Football Talk.

In the pre-game press conference, Wilson, when asked about White’s crowing, said that everything he has gone through in the last few weeks has been a learning curve for him. He handled the question very maturely and revealed his revamped mindset on how to approach things. He added that he needs to improve things and needs to look from a different perspective.

Wilson still believes that despite the camp’s energy has shifted in a different direction since White’s arrival, he is still ‘the guy’ for the future. “It’s a learning experience. There are different ways to look at it,” Wilson told the reporters. “You can sit there and be p***ed off and make excuses or you gotta flip the script and be like ‘I need to improve. I need to see what he’s doing. I need to look from a different perspective.”

The Jets haven’t been great and are 7-6 for the season. They have lost the last 2 matches with White leading the offense and are currently 4th in the AFC East division. After facing the Lions this week, they will take on the Jaguars and the Seahawks before eventually facing their division rivals- the Miami Dolphins.
