There has been a change of guard within the New York Jets organization. One that fans would not have anticipated a year ago. Aaron Rodgers has decided to leave the Green Bay Packers, a franchise which he played for 18-long years to move in search of greener pastures and he found the Jets to be that place.
The New York Jets traded 3 of their draft picks and 1 conditional draft pick in exchange for Aaron Rodgers, a first-round pick, and a fifth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft to the Green Bay Packers. Both teams have given up a lot in this trade. The one message that the Jets sent by making this trade was to their young quarterback Zach Wilson whom the team drafted in 2021 with the second overall pick.

Zach was dubbed to be the future of the Jets franchise and HC Robert Saleh was optimistic about him. However, the young quarterback ruined his own chances by establishing himself as an unreliable quarterback who struggled to be consistent throughout the 2022 NFL season. Wilson also failed to rise up to the role of a leader and a figure who would lead the offense in the locker room, as he lacked accountability.
Zach Wilson’s past comments have come back to haunt him

While Wilson was confident that he would remain in his role as QB1 for the New York Jets, the team did not see it that way. In light of the recent trade which makes Aaron Rodgers the undisputed floor general for the Jets, a comment that Zach Wilson made in the past has come back to haunt him.
Earlier this year, the Athletic had quoted Zach Wilson stating that if the New York Jets were to bring on a veteran QB onto their roster, he would not have it easy. “I’m going to make that dude’s life hell in practice every day,” were Wilson’s exact words. Well, that quote clearly did not age well as now Zach has to deal with Aaron Rodgers, who is pretty experienced when it comes to dealing with non-cooperative quarterbacks.
Rodgers was the backup to Brett Favre, a QB who did not help him much when he was drafted into the league and the last person that he would be bothered by is Wilson. Fans on Twitter did not hold back and roasted Zach Wilson over his past comments, take a look.
Zach Wilson could be the Aaron Rodgers of the XFL.
Bet Aaron has sleepless nights thinking about how he would deal with Zach Wilson…
This pretty much sums it all up.
“Look at me, I’m the captain now,” Probably what Aaron Rodgers is thinking.
Zach Wilson has a great chance to learn from one of the best. The young QB should consider putting his ego aside and allowing Aaron to help him improve his game and leadership skills.
