“I think we’ll know here shortly”- Packers GM Brian Gutekunst speaks up on Aaron Rodgers’ future with the team

Aaron Rodgers and Packers GM

Aaron Rodgers‘ future has been uncertain throughout the season due to multiple factors leading up to the recently concluded season and their early exit from the playoffs following a meltdown at home against the San Francisco 49ers hasn’t helped this situation at all.

Many people believe that Aaron Rodgers has made up his mind and he will certainly get traded to somewhere else before the start of free agency as Rodgers himself had said that he doesn’t want to be a part of a rebuild as Green Bay will face a salary cap issue in this offseason which may result in them losing some key players like Davante Adams.

Green Bay Packers GM Brian Gutekunst recently held a press conference and talked about the future of Aaron Rodgers with the team and said, “I think we’ll know here shortly, I feel confident we’ll know that shortly.”, signaling all of us that a decision from both the franchise and the player is really coming soon which can impact the whole league.

“There’s a process that obviously we’re going through,” – Brian Gutekunst on Aaron Rodgers situation at the Green Bay Packers

Brian Gutekunst further spoke about the future of Aaron Rodgers at the Packers and said, “There’s a process that obviously we’re going through, There’s a process that he’s going through. And we’re very respectful of that.”

He told that he talked to Rodgers prior to the start of the season and was asked if he told the QB that he’ll get the move away from the team after the recently concluded season and said, “That was not something I told him, I think the whole conversation with Aaron last season before he came back was that regardless, at the end of this season, this past season, that we would sit down as a group and we would work it out one way or another.

Brian, the GM of the Packers was also asked about whether they will give Davante Adams the franchise tag to which he replied, “It’s not something we like to do, We’d certainly not like to do that if we don’t have to. We’d certainly like to come to a long-term deal that works for both sides, but again, that’s hypothetical. A lot of things have to happen before we get to that point.”

The Packers want both Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams to stay as that gives them the best chance to win a championship but it will be difficult for them to keep their 2 superstars due to salary cap issues and also due to the decisions that those two players make about their career moving forward.
