There has been a lot of talk that Aaron Rodgers will be traded this season by the Green Bay Packers and the San Francisco 49ers are ready to receive him. It has been even said by many NFL pundits that Aaron Rodgers will be better off at the 49ers.
However, the Green Bay Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst has said that they are still looking to extend their association with him. Additionally, he has said that there has been no talks of Rodgers being traded after the 2021 season.
Brian Gutekunst believes they can win the Superbowl with Aaron Rodgers next year
There has been reports that are currently doing the rounds that the Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers had a ‘handshake agreement’ that if he wanted to leave in the 2021 offseason, he was free to do so.
However general manager Brian Gutekunst has dismissed these rumours and said that no such thing actually happened. “Those are some hypotheticals that I don’t think we’re going to go down those roads right now,” he said in a press conference.
“That was not something I told him,” Gutekunst said. “Again, I think the whole conversation with Aaron last season before he came back was that, regardless, at the end of this past season, we would sit down as a group and we would work it out one way or another.”
Moreover, Gutekunst also believes that they can get back on track and add more silverware next season. He believes that with Aaron Rodgers there, they can definitely benefit and the Packers can win the Superbowl next year.
“Because I think we’ve got as good a shot as anybody to win a Super Bowl next year,” Gutekunst said. “He’s the MVP of the league. That’s our goal. I think we have an opportunity to do it right now. That’s why.”
“We’re disappointed that we didn’t finish it off the last two years, but there’s no reason to think we can’t get right back there and knock on the door and get there,” Gutekunst said. “So, yeah, I think we’re full-forward ahead.”
