“They’ll be waiting on him to make a decision every year” Ryan Clark explains how Aaron Rodgers’ new contract doesn’t mean he’s stuck in Green Bay
Aaron Rodgers and Ryan Clark
News broke recently that Aaron Rodgers had signed a new, record-breaking contract with the Green Bay Packers. However, soon after that was announced, Rodgers came out and revealed that he was yet to sign and hadn’t actually agreed.
This left people very confused about the whole situation but Aaron Rodgers was very clear that he would be playing for the Packers in 2022. So, at least there was that clarity but the contract situation was still confusing.
Well, more recently, a new report has come out stating that this time, Rodgers has actually signed a contract with Green Bay confirming that he will definitely be there for this season at the very least. The deal is 3 years and totals to just about $150 million with the first 2 years of it being fully guaranteed.
Given the news, Ryan Clark shared his thoughts on the contract and how Aaron Rodgers played it perfectly to secure his future.
Ryan Clark explains how Aaron Rodgers is fully in control of his future
On a segment of ESPN’s ‘Get Up’, Ryan Clark was quoted saying “Aaron Rodgers has set himself up to be in a perfect position. He has set himself up in that the Green Bay Packers, every year, will be waiting for him to make a decision on whether or not he’ll be their quarterback and he’ll be getting a boatload of money.”
Clark further added “Also, this team is set up to win. They’ve won 13 games in each of the last 3 years and been to the NFC Championship in 2 of them. They are trying to continue that and keep their good players, starting with Aaron Rodgers, whose the best quarterback in the NFL. This is a smart move for Aaron Rodgers and this is a smart move for the Green Bay Packers.”
Despite the massive amount of money Rodgers is set to make, his cap hit for 2022 has gone down to $28 million thanks to the complicated way teams work contracts. Now, the Packers have their future Hall of Fame quarterback for this year, they need to sort out things with Davante Adams to make sure they can remain as competitive as possible, especially with Tom Brady coming back.
