One of the biggest pieces of news this past week aside from legendary quarterback Tom Brady announcing his return is the trade of star wide receiver, Davante Adams, to Las Vegas.

The Green Bay Packers receiver of eight years was traded to Las Vegas in exchange for a first-round pick and a second-round pick in the NFL 2022 draft.

“You should’ve exhausted every means and measure” – Stephen A. Smith feels Aaron Rodgers knew Adams would have to leave the Packers after he signed his deal

Davante Adams signed a huge deal with the Raiders worth $141.25 million for five years. Adams is set to make a per-year average of $28.25 million which eventually makes him the new highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history. Earlier, Adams refused to play for the Packers since he was only franchise-tagged. Since the Packers made Aaron Rodgers the highest-paid QB in the league, the team was left with little cap space to offer a long-term deal to Adams.

Stephen A. Smith of First Take is holding the Packers’ QB accountable for Adams being traded to Las Vegas. “You knew when you got the bag that Davante Adams was going to probably leave,” Smith said. “Here you are with Valdes-Scantling and Allen Lazard as your receiver. You should’ve been raising holy hell to do everything you possibly could to keep Davante Adams.

“You should’ve exhausted every means and measure if you’re Aaron Rodgers to make sure that your primary weapon, arguably the best receiver in all of football stays in Green Bay. That doesn’t seem to be something that you did. What seems to have happened is that you got your money. That doesn’t sound to me like somebody who’s prioritizing winning, that sounds to me like somebody who’s prioritizing getting the bag.”

This will definitely hurt the Packers’ chances of making it to the Super Bowl. If Rodgers hadn’t been so selfish and would’ve cut his own pay to sign weapons to the team that can lead them to the Super Bowl, then maybe Adams would’ve stayed in Green Bay. One of the reasons Tom Brady has 7 Super Bowl rings is that he allows the team to sign players by docking his own pay so that the team as a whole can succeed. This isn’t the case with Aaron Rodgers and that’s the reason why he only has 1 Super Bowl ring to show for in his entire 17 years NFL career.
