- LeBron James is often compared to Michael Jordan, with debates focusing on championships and individual accolades.
- NFL star Puka Nacua argues that LeBron's ability to win titles with three different franchises sets him apart from Jordan.
- Nacua expresses strong support for LeBron, labeling him 'LeGOAT' and emphasizing his loyalty as a fan.
LeBron James will constantly be compared to Michael Jordan ever since the Los Angeles Lakers superstar proudly claimed himself to be the NBA’s GOAT.
Opinion on that claim is divided, with most older members of the media, analysts, players, and fans who point to the obvious lack of championships and the title losses James suffered as being the reason he can be a close second to His Airness.
Then there is the Defensive Player of the Year award, something that has courted controversy with how it was recorded back then. Despite that, James not winning one has been considered a red mark.
However, the four-time champions’ ever-increasing foothold on most of the statistical areas has continued to hold up his side of the bargain.
At the same time, Jordan’s fans dismiss those stats by pointing to the 23 long years LeBron James has taken to pile up those numbers. Despite that, according to NFL star Puka Nacua, there is one statistic that tilts the conversation towards the Akron native.
Score 40 when you’re a teen, scored 40 when you were 40. The only person to take 3 different franchises to the big dance and get it done for them. Never seen Michael Jordan do that.

“Score 40 when you’re a teen, scored 40 when you were 40. The only person to take 3 different franchises to the big dance and get it done for them. Never seen Michael Jordan do that. I never want you to leave. Never retire. They could never do no… pic.twitter.com/hBSg5pCJfh
This was the Super Bowl champion’s logic that effectively ended the GOAT debate for him. He does not believe Michael Jordan was capable of doing what the Lakers star did. That, to him, is enough of a comparison.
Puka Nacua does not want LeBron James to retire
Many might scoff at Puka Nacua‘s logic, but he does have a point, as no other player has won championships with three different teams while being their leading superstar.

I never want you to leave. Never retire… You could walk out on the basketball court with no knees, and only your left hand and give the NBA 25/5/5, just like you’ve done for 27 years straight. You’re the best, I love you so much. I still need a jersey, I’ll still be at the games. LeGOAT.

The 24-year-old made it clear he is firmly in LeBron James’ corner. When he labeled the four-time league MVP with the ‘LeGOAT’ tag, he showed off his long-sleeved t-shirt that had a purple goat with a yellow no. 23 in it.
It is another show of his loyalty to James, as he has been for a long time. Nacua makes it a point to attend as many Lakers’ home games as he can. It does help that he plays for the Rams in the same city.
LeBron James could not lead Lakers to win over OKC
LeBron James and his Los Angeles Lakers struggled to win consistently early last month. Then, they went on an 8-3 run, which was their last before they won three straight games before Super Bowl weekend.
Austin Reaves was back in the rotation, and the team was taking advantage of their home fans cheering them on. Then, they welcomed the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder. It was a balanced game of sorts, as OKC was without reigning league MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and the home team was without leading scorer and playmaker Luka Doncic.
Therefore, it was left to the oldest player in the league to give their home fans another win. However, try as he might, his 22 points, 6 rebounds, and 10 assists were not enough.
The Thunder, who are well-known to have one of the stingiest defenses in the league, sniffed out 12 steals from the men in purple and gold. That ended up being the reason they snapped their two-game skid and the Lakers’ three-game winning streak. It seems the roster needs a lot more if they are to win against the champions.
