Stefon Diggs pulls off an innovative way of honouring late John Madden
It’s only been a week since the legendary former football coach and presenter John Madden passed away unexpectedly to leave a huge void in the world of football. Buffalo Bills’ Stefon Diggs paid his respects for Madden in an innovative way, as the tributes continue to pour in for the iconic persona of Madden.
Diggs is known for creating ripples not only on the pitch but also in the world of fashion with his immense sense of style and approach off the field. The wide receiver made his own statement both in style and to bereave the recent death of Madden, by wearing customised cleats having pictures of John Madden.
Stefon Diggs has been in sensational form for the Bills in this season
Stefon Diggs wore the cleats during his training session before Buffalo Bills’ fixture against the Atlanta Falcons. The tribute was one of the most innovative which was seen since the last week after the 85-year old breathed his last on the 28th of December.
It would be interesting to see what approach the NFL authorities take for this act of Stefon Diggs, given they have often fined players for using customised cleats during matches and training sessions in the past. Hopefully, the ulterior motive is seen and common sense prevails on their part.
On the pitch, Diggs has had an excellent season for the Bills so far, having 1,000 receiving yards on 89 receptions for nine touchdowns. However, he did not have much role to play for them in their eventual victory over the Atalanta Falcons as they came out with a convincing 29-15 victory to win their third match on the trot.
The Bills are the current table-toppers of the AFC East, winning 10 matches, losing 6 to have a 10-6 record.
