“That’s not what I am paying Dak Prescott for”: Stephen A Smith backs Jerry Jones’ statement that Cowboys’ star is in a slump

Stephen A Smith and Dak Prescott

Dak Prescott is undoubtedly a megastar in the world of American football. The man has been a huge part of the Cowboys unit and has led the offense nicely. One has to admit that he has well and truly earned the hefty amount he receives from his franchise.

However, Prescott’s recent form has been below-par, to say the least. Especially in the last six games, Dak has failed to leave any mark on the field which is hurting the Cowboys. Talking about Dak’s form, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who is known for being ‘outspoken’, had a few points to highlight.

In an interaction with ESPN, the owner of Dallas Cowboys Jerry Jones said, “I don’t want to say that, slump, but that’s probably fair, but it’s such a multifaceted evaluation that I would say our offense is definitely away from where we were playing five and six games ago from the standpoint of production.”

Prescott received a massive $160 million extension during the offseason which makes it clear how much the Cowboys expect from him. Moreover, Prescott started the season in an emphatic fashion as well. He was going so well that people were counting him as a hot contender for the MVP.

However, his performances gradually turned unimpressive. If we talk about November and December, Prescott has completed 63.1% of his passes for 1,568 yards, eight touchdowns, and six interceptions. While many were not happy with what Jerry said about Dak, Stephen A Smith claimed that he is indeed on the same page as Jerry.

Jerry Jones is saying, we are 3-3 in last 6 games, you threw 6 interceptions in the last 6 games, my brother, that’s not what I am paying you to do,” Stephen said. He added that Jerry, sometimes, talks a bit too much but also stated that there are times when his critique is appropriate.
