“We’ll go down every avenue,” Tampa Bay GM ready to dig deep for Tom Brady’s successor at the franchise
Tom Brady announced his retirement from the NFL on Monday night, in a move that was expected by many followers of the game. However, Brady’s absence will leave the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a massive hole in their lineup, something which they need to cover up very fast if they are to challenge for a title next season.
Buccaneers’ general manager Jason Licht has vowed that he will go down every avenue to make the best choice as to who should take over the QB1 position in the franchise and carry the legacy of TB-12. Replacing Tom Brady will not be an easy task and Jason Licht knows it won’t be an easy task given the dearth of good quarterbacks in the market at the moment.

Tampa do have the likes of Blaine Gabbert, Kyle Trask and Ryan Griffin, in their ranks from the 2021 roster and they have not ruled out the possibility of grooming either of them to take charge next season.
“We’ll have to go down every avenue,” Licht said. “It’s a little bit different landscape than it was a couple of years ago with the quarterbacks that were available in free agency. So, we’ll have to go down every avenue, we’ll turn over every stone.”
“I hate to use clichés like that, but we will. I think our roster is in a better position than we were two years ago in terms of the young talent we have, the experience they have at this point, what we’ve gone through in the last couple of years. So I’m excited about that.”
Kyle Trask is the imminent choice after he was selected by the franchise in the second draft of 2021. The 23-year old was one of the best quarterbacks in college football. He completed 68.9% of his passes as a senior in 2020 with 4,283 yards, 43 passing touchdowns and eight interceptions.
