"This is only a TWO YEAR COMMITMENT!" : Ian Rapoport says Aaron Rodgers won't be staying at the Packers beyond 2024

Aaron Rodgers has finally signed a new contract with the Green Bay Packers. After days of confusion and uncertainty, the quarterback has signed an official deal with the Packers. There was some confusion after Aaron Rodgers verbal confirmation but that has been resolved.

The deal makes him the highest paid quarterback in the NFL with a guaranteed pay of $42 million in 2022 and upwards of $59.5 million in 2023. Additionally the total deal is worth $150.8 million over the next three years.

As per the terms of the new contract, Aaron Rodgers also has the option to extend his current contract by a period of 2 years should he want to stay beyond 2024. Moreover he will be making $49.3 million in 2024 however that pay is not guaranteed at the moment.

Speaking on the Rich Eisen Show, NFL insider Ian Rapoport said that although Rodgers has the option to extend, it is unlikely that he will do so. According to Ian Rapoport this is a ‘two year commitment’ from him and that will be the standing equation.

It feels to me, based on the language, based on the numbers that is a two-year commitment from Aaron Rodgers. And from what I understood, if he was going to go to say the Broncos, he was going to commit to them for two years,” he said.

So it makes sense. It makes sense that if he was going to go back to the Packers, he would do it for two years, It could also potentially be for three years. So no, we’re not going to be doing this again for Aaron Rodgers next year. We at least have two years before we have to do the exact same thing again. Which is good because I don’t know if I could do this again.”
