“Sometimes I get a little pissed,” Tom Brady on not shaking Nick Foles’ hands in Week 52

“Sometimes I get a little pissed,” Tom Brady on not shaking Nick Foles’ hands in Week 52

Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers take on the Philadelphia Eagles in the playoff encounter this week. The impending fixture has brought back memories of the Super Bowl 52 in 2018 when the Eagles won the championship at the expense of the New England Patriots’ Brady’s side that year.

A particular moment from that fixture is still apparently fresh in the minds of the Philadelphia Eagles fans, the infamous one which involves Nick Foles and Tom Brady. After the match, Brady refused to shake hands with his opposing number, visibly still recovering from the defeat that he had suffered that day.

With Brady set to face Philadelphia Eagles next week, he was asked about the opinion the Eagles fans hold of him yet to this day. The reporter asked him whether he was aware of the discontentment which he had caused the fans after he snubbed Foles’ handshake.

“No, I’m not,” Brady said. “I’ve shaken Nick’s hands’ plenty of times, though. I have a lot of respect for Nick, and I try to be a good sport as best I can. I know it doesn’t always look like that, because sometimes I get a little pissed out there, but for the most part, I try to be a good sport.”

Tom Brady also claimed that he has great admiration for Nick Foles, and thinks of him very highly. He could not provide an explanation on why he did not shake hands with him that day, saying that he probably sometimes runs off after matches.

“I didn’t even think about that,” Brady said to NBC Sports Boston. “I think Nick Foles is a hell of a player and a Super Bowl champ. I don’t know one reason or another why I wouldn’t do that. Sometimes I run off the field, sometimes I haven’t.”

“Sometimes if I have a personal relationship like I have with [Saints quarterback] Drew [Brees] and Justin and Aaron over the years — I don’t know, I don’t think it’s anything in particular other than I have great admiration for Nick and I think he’s a hell of a player. [The Bears] are off to a great start.”
