“Toughest division in football” – Kansas City Chiefs’ analysts try to make sense of Russell Wilson trade and the dominance of the Chiefs in AFC West

Russell Wilson and Kansas City Chiefs
The entire NFL world was left flabbergasted yesterday when it was announced that Russell Wilson had been traded to the Denver Broncos in exchange for multiple first-round picks. While there were rumors of trade talks revolving around Wilson, none of them were concrete since Seattle didn’t show any interest in trading him.
That’s the reason why the entire league was shocked to learn about Wilson’s trade to the Broncos. On the talk show Undisputed, co-host Skip Bayless talked about the “steal of the century” as he coined the unbelievable move by Broncos and how this puts them in the Super Bowl race once again.
Patrick Mahomes has to be consistent now that Russell Wilson has joined the AFC West

Pete Sweeney, lead writer for the Kansas City Chiefs along with John Dixon, deputy editor of the Arrowhead Pride talked about the mammoth move by the Broncos of acquiring Russell Wilson. “It just shows that despite the season he had in 2021 which was substantially off by his standards, Patrick Mahomes is still the guy to beat,” Dixon said.
After the addition of the Wilson to Denver, the AFC West consists of Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, Derek Carr, and Russell Wilson. This has to be the toughest division to compete in both conferences. “The AFC West is clearly the best division in football and one of the signatures of the Chiefs for so long has been this divisional dominance,” Pete added.

The Chiefs have been dominating the AFC West division because it’s clearly a weak division. Now that Russell Wilson has been added to the mix, along with young gun Justin Herbert, the AFC West has gotten way tougher. The Chiefs now have to be consistent throughout the season if they wish to make it to the playoffs.
After seeing the performance of Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs in Super Bowl LV and the entire 2021 season, Kansas City fans are terrified since they aren’t sure if their team will make it to the top 2 of the division and dominate the AFC as they have been for the past few years. It’ll be a treat to watch which one of these sensational talents leads the division in 2022.
