The Cowboys had a 13-3 regular season record and Troy Aikman started to show why he was the first overall pick after his first three seasons were a complete disaster. In his first Super Bowl win, Aikman was crowned the MVP for his exceptional performance. He completed 73 percent of his passes and threw for 273 yards and 4 touchdowns. The Cowboys crushed the Bills 52-17 to lift their first Lombardi trophy since 1977 in Super Bowl XXVII.

The Bills had nine turnovers in the game and Aikman successfully converted three of those into touchdown drives in the first half of the game. Another reason why this Super Bowl was special, apart from Aikman’s performance, was the pop icon Michael Jackson performed at the halftime show.

1993 season – Back-to-back Super Bowl wins

The most iconic of these three wins was the 1993 season victory. The Cowboys faced Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl XXVIII which was just a rerun of the previous Super Bowl. The Bills were starting in their fourth consecutive Super Bowl, and this time, it looked like they would lift their first Lombardi trophy.

The Bills were leading 13-6 at halftime, but the Cowboys giddied up and came back stronger in the second half. Aikman helped the offense score 24 points, but largely it was running back Emmitt Smith. Smith ran for 132 yards on 30 carries and scored two touchdowns and was named the MVP of the game.

With this win, Troy Aikman joined legendary NFL quarterbacks, Bart Starr, Bob Griese, Terry Bradshaw, and Joe Montana, to win back-to-back Super Bowls.

1996 season – The last Super Bowl win

The star quarterback led the Cowboys to a 12-4 season into their third Super Bowl in four years. Super Bowl XXX was an easy win for the Cowboys against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He completed 15 of his 23 passes for 209 yards and one touchdown.
