In the past few weeks, we have had some mind-blowing trades in the offseason. We saw the 4-year $200 million outrageous extension of Aaron Rodgers and the trading of Russell Wilson to Denver in exchange for multiple first-round picks.

On a more recent note, the Titans have re-signed edge rusher, Harold Landry. This move by Tennessee keeps their defensive front together after a year that saw 52 sacks between the regular and postseason games.

Harold Landry was selected 41st overall by the Tennessee Titans in the 2018 NFL draft. The 25-year old linebacker had the best season of his career so far in 2021. Landry registered 12 sacks and 75 tackles in 2021 — each of them career highs as he likewise tackled his first Pro Bowl selection. The Titans signed Landry to a massive five-year, $87.5 million extension with $52.5 million guaranteed, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported Tuesday night.

“We’re real confident that we have the team to go out to win the Super Bowl. I think our front four can lead the charge,” Landry said, via Ben Arthur of the Tennessean. “That’s another reason why I came back here because the culture here is a winning culture. It’s a proven, winning culture. That was really important to me because we know we have the team to do it.”

The Titans defense was one of the most feared ones in the NFL this year. However, they couldn’t manage to get past the divisional round of the playoffs. But, the blame for that falls on the offense rather than the defense, and Landry strongly believes that the front line of the defense can lead them to a Super Bowl victory.

There was a time in the NFL when the defense solely decided the outcome of the game. However, football is more of a quarterback’s game now, as many experts have opined. The front four of the Titans include — Bud Dupree, Jeffery Simmons, and Denico Autry who will join Landry in trying to disrupt opposing quarterbacks.

Their success will be a must in a conference that added Russell Wilson to a list of quarterbacks that already included the likes of Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, and Justin Herbert.
