The Kansas City Chiefs open their 2024 season with one goal in mind: win another Super Bowl to establish themselves as the first franchise in NFL history to win three straight championships. Their first game of that journey starts at home when they welcome the Baltimore Ravens. The NFL Kickoff Game is bound to be correspondingly exciting considering the talent at their disposal.

Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce would like to end the game with a similar result as their last game against the Ravens. On the other hand, Lamar Jackson has Derrick Henry for company as they look to foil the plans of the defending Super Bowl winners.

The Baltimore Ravens will evidently be fired up to avenge their AFC Championship loss. At the same time, the Chiefs know all too well that this loss could have an after-effect playing the Cincinnati Bengals next week. In a league where the margin of error is that narrow, unquestionably neither of them will want to lose.

Why can the Kansas City Chiefs win?

A new season brings a refreshed Kansas City Chiefs to the forefront. They still boast the same core of Mahomes-Kelce-Jones and head coach Andy Reid. At this point, that alone should give Chiefs fans some semblance of assurance. The quartet has delivered three Super Bowls and are vying to win their fourth.

To win that third-straight Super Bowl, they have concurrently shored up on the offensive side and are in theory one of the most prolific groups in the league. The defense did shed superstar L’Jarius Sneed in the offseason, evidently placing the onus on a young defense to stop the Ravens’ attack. But despite that loss, the overall improvements to the team give the Chiefs that edge.

Why can the Baltimore Ravens win?

The Baltimore Ravens also lost a key piece on their defensive side in Patrick Queen. But the Ravens’ defense is known to embrace the ‘next man up’ philosophy. That alone has brought out the best in their players over the past. However, their secondary is expected to play much better than the disastrous outing last season.

Above all, where the Ravens strike fear is with their offense. With Derrick Henry in the backfield, a healthy Mark Andrews, and an improved through experience receiving core, they will make opposition defenders sweat even before the first snap. The Henry addition especially opens up new areas of offensive prowess that teams haven’t seen before, subsequently making this game a must watch.
