The Cincinnati Bengals set forward home at Paycor Stadium looking for their first win of the season after losses to New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs in games one and two. The Bengals will play the underdogs Washington Commanders who are fresh off a victory at FedEx Field last week.

The Commanders are 1-1 to the season, gaining a huge victory over the New York Giants in week 2. The Commanders crushed the Giants’ hope by shooting 7 field goals, all courtesy of Austin Seibert. Seibert, playing in his Commanders’ debut was also named the NFC Special Teams’ Player of the Week for his 7-on-7 performance.

The Bengals are reeling from yet another 0-2 start to a season. Starting from 2022, the Bengals haven’t won their first two games in the regular season for three years now. Although they have previously managed to stage a Super Bowl run after starting dismay, it is not a risk a team should be willing to take. As they approach the next week, the Bengals will need to avoid a loss at the hands of Commanders, as the statistic is not very favorable for 0-3 starts.

The MNF game is the first time when Joe Burrow and Jayden Daniels are meeting in the NFL. The duo played in LSU in their collegiate careers winning Heisman trophies and national championships. Daniels who started as QB1 after Burrow’s ascend into the major league was not an easy path. He had to earn Baton Rouge’s love and that makes MNF a must-watch.

Why can the Cincinnati Bengals win?

The Bengals are currently facing a do-or-die situation. They have never started 0-3 and they wouldn’t want to do that this season either. From a serious Super Bowl contender, they have dropped into not even making playoffs zone. However, they have a home advantage as well as a recent H2H advantage. In the last four of their meetings, the Bengals have come out top all four times.

The Bengals offense looked far better than the first game against the Patriots when they played the Chiefs. Joe Burrow has improved to a combined 422 passing yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions this year. Their offense is further boosted by Tee Higgins who is coming out of injury on Monday. Higgins is one of the best wide receivers in the league and his presence might make a known difference.

The key challenge ahead of the Bengals when they play the Commanders is the run game led by Jayden Daniels. The defensive backs of the Bengals, Cam Taylor-Britt and Daijahn Anthony showed promise last week. The former recorded a one-hand interception, which didn’t go unnoticed. Anthony who unknowingly led the way to the Chiefs’ late victory will be someone they are looking forward to using as a weapon.

Why can the Washington Commanders win?

The Washington side is currently 10th in the league in yards per game with 362.0 yards across two games. Their defense is also looking solid, having said some byes to a horrific past season.

The Commanders will need to dominate the game if they are to defeat the Bengals. The Burgundy and the Gold can use the 0-3 pressure on the Bengals to their advantage. They will need to work on utilizing penalties and turnover battles much like the Devin Singletary one against the Giants.

Commanders will have to convert some touchdowns in the early stages of the game, thereby creating more pressure on the Bengals’ defense. Jayden Daniels has shown promise in his pass completion with an almost 75% completion rate but has yet to throw a TD pass. If the Commanders are to win, Daniels must aid the offensive line to complete touchdowns and rack up points quickly.
