“We’ll be a better team” – Bucs head coach Todd Bowles believes the team should stop pinning their hopes on Tom Brady

Tom Brady and Todd Bowles
Tom Brady is the most well-known football player and has been the equivalent of NFL all around the globe. People outside of the U.S. always associate Brady when they talk about NFL. After being in the league and dominating it for 22 seasons, the Bucs QB decided to hang his cape and retire.
However, this decision was short-lived, 40 days to be exact. Brady announced his return as the QB for Tampa Bay and said he still had some unfinished business in the league despite the 7x Super Bowl and virtually most of the records in league history. The Bucs’ locker room was relived hearing about their leaders’ return but their head coach isn’t as pleased as his players.
Todd Bowles believes his team should make the job easier for Tom Brady and not the other way around

Newly-appointed head coach, Todd Bowles opened up about his feeling toward Tom Brady and believes that the team should not pile up their hopes on him for the coming seasons. There’s no second opinion about the impact Brady has on the teams and his effectiveness in last-second comebacks. However, Bowles believes the team would be better off if they didn’t wait for the 44-year-old QB to save them every time.
Bowles on a Monday appearance on the Ira Kaufman Podcast said the team should make Tom Brady’s job easier in the 2022 season rather than the other way around. “I think if everyone gets to the mindset of, ‘we need to make Tom’s job easier not him make our job easier,’ we’ll be a better team. If we don’t have to rely on the heroics, sort of speak, and everybody’s doing their job and earning their keep, we’ll be a better team … There was a few games that we shouldn’t have even been in. If we take care of our business that way, more of a team-like thing, we’ll be a better team,” Bowles said.
There’s no other quarterback you would rather have on your side other than Brady during close encounter games. Time and again, the 15x Pro Bowler has shown why he’s the best the game has ever produced. There have been 42 different scenarios during Tom Brady’s 23 years long glorious career where he has saved his team from a loss with a fourth-quarter comeback win.
That’s exactly why Todd Bowles feels the team should earn their keep by making their QB’s job easier than Brady always having to make a comeback. The team should learn to be better themselves and not rely every waking moment on Brady to steal a victory from the jaws of defeat. After Brady signed a mammoth deal with FOX Sports to be an NFL analyst after his retirement, this might very well be his last season.
So, Bowles believes, the team should be prepared to play without Brady under the center and still be the same team giving nightmares to opponents as they were with Brady.
