The former Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee is reaching new heights in his sports broadcasting career. He has decided to move The Pat McAfee show to ESPN, leaving a 4-year deal with FanDuel worth up to $120 million. But why would he leave a $120 million deal to join ESPN, where they might censor his content predominantly?

ESPN and Pat McAfee have reached a deal to move his show to the ESPN Network. The Pat McAfee show will move to ESPN this fall and the former Colts punter will also contribute to other ESPN shows and digital platforms. Additionally, he will also continue his role as the analyst on the network’s “College GameDay.”

“We are extremely honored that ESPN is blessing us with this opportunity to be a part of the next chapter of the ESPN family. We do not take that lightly and are going to work hard to make sure this is a success,” McAfee said in a statement about moving his show to ESPN. “All parties involved agree the time has come for a bunch of sports stooges in a Thunderdome in Indiana to sprinkle in some fun and celebration of sport as well.”

Fans and followers of the show, however, do not like the move by the Pro Bowl punter to move his show to a censored platform. So, why would Pat McAfee risk losing his fanbase and leave behind a $120 million deal to join the Disney-owned sports network?

Despite being a very famous show on Youtube, the Pat McAfee show has a limited audience. A move to a bigger network like ESPN would gain McAfee a lot of attraction and new fans.

Besides, McAfee has made it clear that he still owns the creative control of the show, and he just has to reduce the number of F-words he has been using in the show.

Additionally, the former Colts punter is also looking at a salary range of about eight digits, according to a report from the New York Post. Therefore, he would be able to compensate for any financial loss he suffers from leaving the FanDuel deal.

Pat McAfee’s net worth is $35 million and he also recently became a father as his wife Samantha McAfee gave birth to their daughter. So, the birth of his daughter might’ve played some role in his decision to move to a bigger network.

Making it big in the media has always been the dream of the 36-year-old media personality. And he will not miss the opportunity to work for the biggest sports network in the United States.

Nevertheless, The Pat McAfee show will move to ESPN Network this fall. His show will be telecasted on weekdays on ESPN, ESPN+, and the ESPN youtube channel. McAfee’s whole team, including the former Green Bay Packers linebacker AJ Hawk will join him on his new venture.
