Connor Bedard who is often compared to active NHL greats has been snatching the spotlight ever since his World Junior Championship tournament. The 18-year-old center finally got his dream come true a few days back during the 2023 National Hockey League draft selection.

He joined the Chicago Blackhawks as the 2nd player to be the No. 1 pick in draft selection; the first being Patrick Kane. The Music City vibrated as fans began chanting “Let’s go, Hawks!” during his selection. As much as Bedard celebrated his new journey, he didn’t forget to talk about his idol and hero he’s been looking up to since childhood.

Connor Bedard was born to two amazing parents Tom and Melanie Bedard. Both of them have been phenomenal characters in his life and have been the backbone of his dream. 

Tom and Melanie Bedard spoke about what it’s like to be a hockey parent and how much it means to see their son on the NHL stage. They commented how proud they were as Connor was chosen to be a part of the Original 6 team – the Chicago Blackhawks.

Due to his son pursuing his hockey dream, Connor’s mother Melanie had to leave her husband and daughter behind. The son and mom duo moved to Regina, Canada after he was drafted by the Regina Pats of the WHL in 2020. They had to leave the rest of the family in their North Vancouver residence.

Connor Bedard along with his parents used to live in a North Vancouver residence. By the time Connor was drafted into Western Hockey League, he and his mother Melanie shifted to Regina to accommodate him and his sporting career.

Connor Bedard’s dad Tom used to work in the forest industry, 8 hours per day according to reports. He used to go to work at three in the morning and then drive Connor to practices. Even after an entire exhausting day, Tom never failed to show his support for Connor and Madisen in their sporting careers.

As for his mom Melanie, she hosts international students at his family’s house and takes care of the house herself. Even Tom admitted that his wife indeed is a hard worker and loves to take care of her children very much. Just like every mom, she is nervous to see Connor injured but simultaneously celebrates all his happiness.
