Alex Ovechkin
Finally, the Washington Capitals winger, Alex Ovechkin got his 787th goal against a 3-2 loss to the Arizona Coyotes at Capital One Arena on Saturday. With this, he is freed of Gordie Howe’s 786th shackle for goal records made with a single team.
During the second period, Ovechkin gave the team a 1-0 lead after receiving a pass from a defenceman Trevor van Riemsdyk on a power play. Trevor stated, “I just got out there late in the power play, and it’s always a good idea to get him the puck there on that side, and he did the heavy lifting there”.
“A great shot and incredible accomplishment. Best goal-scorer ever, and just another milestone along the way.” Mark Howe, who was present on the last Capitals game, praised Ovechkin for his abilities and scoring style. He stated with confidence, that the Capitals captain will be able to overcome his father’s NHL record.
Mark said, “His shot’s as good as any”. “There are very few people that have that knack. Once they start losing it, they start hitting the goalie in the crest. His pucks are still going in the corner. It’s obvious that he loves what he’s doing. Sometimes money, people get satisfied. He’s not satisfied. You can tell he’s driven. He wants to win. He’s one [heck] of a goal-scorer.”
