Monday morning was a joyful start for the Colorado Avalanche defenceman Erik Johnson with the Stanley Cup beside him on the bed. It can also be said that it was the Cup that woke him up in the morning. Johnson shared images of the Cup on Monday morning, the day after the Stanley Cup celebration.

The Colorado Avalanche defeated Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 6 on Sunday night. The Avalanche players hoisted the Cup and took it back to its home first time since 2001. It’s the team’s third Stanley Cup win. After the final horn, the Avalanche players jumped out, tackling, hugging, and running wild on the ice with excitement.

After sharing a few celebratory photos of the Stanley Cup on Monday morning, Avalanche defenceman Erik Johnson said that he doubted if all that went on Sunday night with the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 6 was a dream or not. As penned on nhl.com, on his social media post, one can see the Cup tucked carefully and lovingly in bed.

He placed it under the blankets with its bowl on the pillow while Johnson captioned it, “I woke up. And I wasn’t dreaming”. Next, he shot a picture of himself with the Cup, arms around the trophy. It surely was a sweet morning for him. The Cup began its night by robbing someone’s leg room on the flight. But who would ever mind the Great Stanley Cup having a moment of its own?
