“A great tradition” – Avalanche defenceman Ryan Murray takes Stanley Cup to hometown, White City

Ryan Murray enjoys outing with Stanley Cup
Colorado Avalanche defenceman Ryan Murray brought the Stanley Cup to his hometown in White City, Saskatchewan on Thursday. He stated, “We had it in Denver for about a week with the team and then it’s cool they let us take it home and do everything with it. It’s such a great tradition in hockey”.
Murray filled the entire Thursday afternoon with snacks, cokes, cakes, pictures, and lots of celebratory activities. He said, “It’s a very special thing for me and, you know, to be able to share this with a bunch of fans, or young hockey players, or even high school buddies, it’s really special”.

Stanley Cup joins Ryan Murray at White City, Regina

Ryan Murray came to the limelight when he played in the WHL and was honored with the role of captaincy during his 2nd season with the Everett Silvertips. He was also a participant at the 2012 World Junior Hockey Championships, representing Team Canada.
After his drafting, he played for the Columbus Blue Jackets in 350 games approximately before being traded to the New Jersey Devils in 2020. He joined the Avalanche for the run for Stanley Cup the last summer. When asked why he chose Avalanche, he said, as per regina.ctvnews.ca, “To get a shot at this,” he said when asked why he chose Colorado. “I thought they had a great team, a lot of great players, and had a shot to win.”
He again said, “I think that’s all you can kind of ask for in your career”. After the Cup’s Regina visit, it will be traveling to Saskatoon to knock at goalie Darcy Kuemper’s door.
