Boston Bruins winger Brad Marchand had a bone to pick with the National Hockey League after comments from Matthew Tkachuk were broadcasted during Game 4. Florida Panthers winger not only signaled an array of bouts but also made comments which were later criticized by Bruins agitator.

Earlier in the series Tkachuk commented, “Your wh*** hit you like that?” to Tomas Nosek. When asked, Marchand talked about how NHL and NHLPA allowing hit mic situations has been nothing but “very disrespectful”. The hot mic incident took place during Game 2 after Nosek hit Panthers’ Eric Staal in the final minutes.

The hit was not called by the NHL, but Staal was visibly upset, calling Nosek a “loser”. Influenced by the heated exchange, Tkachuk directed F’bombs to Nosek branding him as “You f***ing loser”. Marchand infuriated by the comments stated, “I think NHL and the media outlets have crossed the line to allow those mics”.

Despite controversial scrums and comments taking place, Boston Bruins took a 3-1 lead in the 1st round of the playoff series. If they continue their streak over the Panthers, they’ll advance to the 2nd round of the Stanley Cup run. Other than Brad Marchand sounding off on NHL, Linus Ullmark and Matthew Tkachuk got into a heated exchange.

A riled-up Ullmark dropped the gloves with Tkachuk as NHL officials intervened to stop the fight. During their brawl, several small bouts took place all over the ice. Conor Ryan said, “I think we’re gonna keep Linus’ hands intact, and not let him risk breaking anybody’s face. So we’re gonna leave it at that.”

Marchand talked about the responsibilities that the team is upholding with Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci being out of the game. Marchand told the reporters, “I definitely feel a little more pressure in that leadership standpoint. When they’re around, I definitely feel a lot more comfortable just kind of being in my role.”

“When they’re not, it’s hard to fill that void. They’re two incredible leaders on and off the ice.” “It definitely falls on the rest of us that are kind of stepping into that role here to try to take over and lead a little bit more by example and take control of that room”, as per NESN.

Jim Montogomery praised Marchand for being the de-facto leader in the team’s most crucial time, “He’s taken it upon himself, without Patrice being here, to be our mature leader. The guy that is leading us. He’s doing a great job.”

I think he’s dragging people into the fight between whistles. That’s what we’ve asked. We’ve asked to be really hard between the whistles. We don’t want stuff after the whistles. He’s led that way. Which is showing great leadership in my opinion.”
