Brad Marchand, known as the NHL ‘pest’, is one of the fan favorites of the game. His active and blunt personality and weird antics have earned him both love and hate at the same time. But recently, one of his comments has made the fans “relate” to him more than ever.

Prior to reaching his 1,000 games played, he was asked which was his favorite ice hockey team. With “pain” and embarrassment, he replied, “My favorite team growing up was the Toronto Maple Leafs.” It was tough to reveal the Leafs as his favorite team during childhood, considering how the Bruins time and again have demolished them in Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Growing up on the East Coast of Canada, he didn’t have any NHL teams nearby. It was either the Montreal Canadiens or the Toronto Maple Leafs. In Marchand’s case, he chose the latter. The video excellently captured ‘Marshmont’s paused face after he called out the Leafs’ name. One fan tweeted, “The disappointment is amazing lol,” while another added, “I am embarrassed for him”.

You make me look like I have a small nose,” he said while making a kissing mouth to his opponent. His comment, trolling himself became one of the best chirps of the season. Although recently, Brad Marchand’s bold and brazen comments and initiatives seem to have calmed down a lot after he was named Boston Bruins captain. Following Patrice Bergeron’s retirement, the NHL ‘pest’ seems to have toned down a lot and has been focusing on fulfilling his role as the captain.

In their latest 4-3 victory over St.Louis Blues, Marchand achieved his 900 points mark. Following his score in the first half of Saturday’s match, he scored once again during power-play, marking his 901 points in his 15-year NHL career.

He became the fifth Bruins player to pass the milestone. Fans are expecting more out of him in the ongoing season, and hoping the Bruins can secure a playoff spot for the 2024 Stanley Cup race.
