The Vancouver Canucks have done it again! Another glorious loss to add to their already thriving loss profile of a 5-9-1 record. Surely it must be freezing out in Vancouver but the temperature within Rogers Arena on Monday night was boiling hot. The Canucks fans may have even burst the thermostat with their “SELL THE TEAM” chant.

No one can complain honestly. The fans have had enough of their miserable loss throughout the 2022-23 season. Plus, it’s not only this but even in the earlier season they weren’t actually winning anything. After the last ‘throwing jersey on ice’ incident, the officials have been extra careful.

So what? The fans found another way of booing the team. This time around, they didn’t want the general manager or the coach to quit, but the owner itself. The disgruntled fans at Rogers Arena have now replaced jerseys for chants, and “Fire Benning” to “sell the team” shout.

Monday night’s chants were so loud that even the television broadcast was able to catch up on it. Monday’s 5-1 loss to St. Louis Blues was followed by Saturday’s 5-1 loss against the Winnipeg Jets. The Jets aren’t the most capable team for winning, but they sure are putting a challenge for the top spot in the Central Division.

Unfortunately, the Canuck’s are yet again flailing outside the Western Conference playoff picture. Well, two losses during playoffs are common, and it wouldn’t have been so critical if the Canucks did actually have any plans for rebuilding. Canucks GM Patrik Allvin was only able to give half-hearted answers when asked about the team’s condition.

Francesco Aquilini has been criticized many times but in vain. He refuses to rebuild and take a step back. Always charging forward doesn’t provide wins, and the current results are proving that. The team has been out of the playoffs for seven in the last nine seasons.

Even the Seattle Kraken seems to be 8 points clear of Canucks. Someone on Twitter suggested maybe the Cancuks fans should just stop attending the games, with such disappointing outcomes each time, seems like Christmas will be on a sad note. The New Jersey Devils and the Detroit Red Wings have gone under a faster-rebuilt system. Only the Canucks remain stuck in their tracks.
