As the countdown for the new National League Hockey League (NHL) season rapidly comes down, the excitement among fans goes up. The Chicago Blackhawks fans are the most excited of them all as they will get a chance to see young rising star Connor Bedard. So far the 18-year-old rookie has stunned everyone and shined in his NHL debut with the Blackhawks.
While it was not an official debut as preseason games do not count, it does give the coaches and players time to prepare for the upcoming season. Recently, Bedard stole the show at the NHL Prospect Showcase. He would lead his team to a 5-0 victory while scoring a hat trick and assisting one goal. This time he showed off his amazing skills and left the viewers speechless.
Bedard would show his amazing quick skating skills while dangling around the defense. In one play he skipped past three St Louis. Blues defenseman before taking a shot himself. He may have failed to score the goals this time, but he provided two crucial assists with one coming in overtime.
With the game in over time, the Blackhawks would win back the puck and start up a forward move. The crowd would get on their feet as Bedard moved forward. The rookie would lay out a perfect saucer pass which allowed forward partner Andreas Athanasiou to score the winner as they clinched a 2-1 victory.
Connor Bedard gets extremely unhappy after unidentified person steps on Blackhawks logo in dressing room
One of the most common unwritten rules is to respect the teams’ logos. On several occasions, players can be spotted attempting to step aside or avoid landing their foot on a team’s logo. This long-awaited tradition seems to be followed by the new generations as well as Connor Bedard was seen getting extremely unhappy when an unidentified person stepped on the Chicago Blackhawks logo.
This incident is reported to have taken place after his first game with the Blackhawks. He was joined in the locker room by several media persons as they tried to get some words from the 18-year-old forward. As some team members yelled from the background to “get off the logo,” the number draft pick this year was seen shaking his head in disapproval. The funny thing is he did not utter a single word regarding the incident, just shook his head and gave a cold stare.
While the logo and Bedard’s scorn is a different incident, he did say that he was unhappy with his performance as well. Despite picking up two assists he claimed that he could do better than that and will try to make the team even better.
The Blackhawks will kick off their season on October 10. It will be a special moment for Bedard as he will go up against his idol, Sidney Crosby, and the Pittsburgh Penguins. An early chance for Bedard to perhaps get the torch from the aging Crosby.
